Interesting article. Thanks for sharing this knowledge with your readers. Most every Web user has come across these CAPTCHA tests at some point. The problem with them is that in order to be tough against the Internet scammers, they’ve become exceedingly difficult for legitimate website visitors. They cause frustration and website abandonment.

If any of your readers have their own websites or blogs, they might be interested in learning that there is a better alternative out there (and it’s free). Rather than forcing website visitors to decipher distorted and warped text, this CAPTCHA test simply presents several pictures and asks the user to click on specific pictures to verify that they are human and not an automated spam program (called bots): http://www.confidenttechnologies.com/products/confident_CAPTCHA.php
